Give Like Jesus helps fulfill the needs of organizations that support children by bringing together those in need with people who want to help. If you are interested in helping you can do so by Individual Giving or starting a Giving Group. See the list below of organizations that have partnered with Give Like Jesus.

If you work or volunteer at a place that supports children, we can help you create an Amazon list of items you need, share an Amazon list you already have, a webpage with a list of needs, volunteer opportunities, or any other requests we are able to accommodate. If you would like us to set up an Amazon list for you, we will send you everything you need to get started. Florida

  • Duval County, FL - Isaiah 117 House
    When children are removed from their homes out of concern for their safety, they are usually brought to a child welfare services office to await placement. This wait can be a few hours to several days. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and in dirty clothing.

    Isaiah 117 provides a comforting home where these children instead can be brought to wait – a place that is safe with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets. This space allows children to receive the comfort and care they need while child welfare staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a good placement.
    Another part of our purpose is to ease the transition for foster families and make their “yes” less of a burden. When a call for placement comes in the middle of the night, few foster parents are prepared to give baths and do bedtime with a scared set of siblings who are coming with no clothes, car seats, or possessions of any kind. It’s hard to say yes!

    Isaiah 117 House can provide the placement a bed, car seat, formula, diapers, or dinner. While the call may still come in the middle of the night, “the ask” is to say yes to a sibling set who spent the day at Isaiah 117 House. They took baths, have full bellies and duffle bags of their own new clothes for the next several days. They have everything they need to go to school the next morning. We want them to focus on welcoming the children and helping them settle into their new home instead of having to rush around to stores to buy everything the children need. This is crucial in reducing trauma as the children feel less of a burden or interruption to their new home.

    Easing the transition into placement not only changes the way foster care begins, but it can increase the number of foster families in the community.

    We have what is called a giving room that is stocked with donations full of everything a child would need. The average cost to provide a child with a bag full of all new items is approximately $300 per child. Donations are a blessing!

    Wishlist items help kids and families feel safe and supported–and sometimes meet a critical need. Examples include a snack before a therapy session, a book to read at home, or art supplies to help express their feelings.

    Some examples of items we need are:

    • Individually wrapped snacks and drinks

    • Gift cards for grocery and retail stores

    • Art and therapy supplies

    • Books (select titles)

    When kids graduate from therapy, we throw a party—with gifts! Fast food gift cards are one of many ways to celebrate their hard work and healing.

    Sometimes, kids and families are struggling with financial burdens and food insecurity. Grocery and other gift cards can help. These help families buy food during emergencies.
