Give Like Jesus for Kids

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” - Proverbs 22:6

Teaching children how to show love and compassion will serve them long into adulthood. Check out Jars for Jesus and give it a try! It can be done independently or used as an activity for kids that come to Giving Group meetings with their parents.

Jars for Jesus

These are started by kids but can be easily received by and passed on to other kids or adults.

  1. You will need a glass jar with a lid. You can use a mason jar or save one that you’ve used. Just peel the label off and wash it (spaghetti sauce, pickles, gravy etc.). You can decorate it any way you would like (paint, stickers etc.) or just leave it plain.

  2. Print the label sheet, cut out how many you need, fill it out and use clear packing tape to attach and completely cover it on the jar.

  3. Put in it what you want - you can share a special Bible verse, tell a funny story or joke, draw or color a picture, make a craft, include a small gift card or coupons etc. - pass along whatever type of kindness you’d like.

  4. Give it to someone or leave it somewhere to be found.

  5. If someone visits the website and checks it in, it will be posted on social media with a picture and a hashtag made of the information on the label on the jar. (See example)

  6. Start as many as you would like but make sure that the information is different on each jar so they can be tracked. Start them on different dates or in different locations so the hashtags will be different, and you can track each jar separately.

Below is an example of a filled-out label. When someone receives it and checks it in on the website it will be posted on social media with the hashtag #11725AdaLimestoneTN.
All hashtags will have the same format, but with the identifying information written on the jar. They can be tracked on social media using their own unique hashtag.
