Giving Groups

Helping other people is a great reason to get together with others to enjoy food and fellowship. There are always people and places that are in need. Pick a date, invite some people, and repeat! Giving to one of the organizations that has partnered with Give Like Jesus is obviously an option, but the person or organization your group chooses to support is up to you. Just pick who you are going to help, take up a collection of money or goods and give. Simple as that!

There are four different Giving Group categories - Personal Groups, Restaurant Groups, Church Groups, and Workplace Groups.

Personal Giving Groups

  • Pick the person or organization you are going to help before the gathering or discuss and decide with all that attend. Host every gathering at the same place (home, church etc.) or rotate hosts. Do what works best for your group!

  • Giving doesn’t have to mean spending money. Help someone with housework or yardwork or anything else. The gift of time and effort is just as valuable.

  • You will be provided your own webpage (formatted to be very user friendly) that you can change and edit as you need. It is a great central hub for all types of information.

Restaurant Giving Groups

  • Choose something or someone local to support.

  • Create an event on a certain day and time and offer an incentive (like a percentage off, free drink, dessert etc.) for participation. The idea is that you will attract more business while helping those in need at that same time.

  • We will provide a flyer and webpage for the event with all the details. You can advertise however you see fit.

  • Give the provided info sheet to every table the day/time of the event. It will identify the ways in which people can help.

  • There will be a place at the bottom of the info sheet for customers to initial if they contributed. It can then be turned in like a coupon with the bill. Proof of participation cannot be verified - it will be based on the honor system.

Church Giving Groups

  • Giving Groups can be held on their own but also pair well with Bible study groups.

  • Make it your own! If you have a group that would find bringing physical items easier, do that. If you have a group that is ok with using Amazon and other online features, you can do that too.

  • You will be provided your own webpage (formatted to be very user friendly) that you can change and edit as you need. It is a great central hub for all types of information.

Workplace Giving Groups

  • Choose the person or place you are going to help.

  • Allow an hour of paid time for a potluck (once a month or however often you choose). Use the time to collect whatever you are collecting and discuss what the group wants to do at the next gathering.

  • You will be provided your own webpage (formatted to be very user friendly) that you can change and edit as you need. It is a great central hub for all types of information.

  • It helps people in need and is great for team building.
